Director's Welcome

Diocese of Port Pirie celebrates commencement of St Francis of Assisi College

On behalf of the Diocese of Port Pirie, I warmly welcome students and families from across the Riverland region to join our newly established St Francis of Assisi College community.

Alongside the existing Catholic primary schools in the region, we are building an even stronger focus on student learning and quality teaching for all students across the Riverland region.

Whilst this innovative, exciting school development is a new initiative, it builds upon the strong provision of primary Catholic education that has existed for over 100 years across the region, and is part of a broader diocesan and state-wide system of Catholic education. St Francis of Assisi College adds to the number of existing, highly successful Catholic secondary schools in regional South Australia.

St Francis of Assisi College is named after a Saint who continues to inspire us today to care for each other and for our environment – with such relevance in the context of the Riverland community.

Graduates of St Francis of Assisi College will have contributed to and have been enriched as a result of belonging to this Gospel-inspired community. They will use their unique gifts to make a positive difference in the world as confident, capable, community-minded people.

All families who desire a Catholic secondary education for their children are welcome. It is very exciting and responsive to community desire that families in the Riverland region now have access to a Catholic secondary education pathway.

I look forward to sharing and growing, alongside and in partnership, with our inaugural students, staff and families as we work together to build a student-centred, community-oriented Catholic community.
